Run for Love

In an attempt to raise money for the Guangzhou Social Welfare Institute, the Charity Run is a symbol of empathy and unity, unfolding on a rainy morning filled with promise, purpose, and love. Fortunately, as the event started, the weather transformed into a bright and clear day, setting the stage for a memorable experience. Taking place on March 10th at Bao Mo Yuan, this event transcended being just a physical challenge; it stood as a testament to the boundless capacity for compassion and the importance of charity education. The day commenced with an opening ceremony led by Principal Zhu, where heartfelt speeches emphasized the significance of collective action and the transformative power of each individual's support. From the synchronized warm-up routines to the pulsating countdown, every moment brimmed with anticipation and goodwill as participants prepared themselves for the journey that awaited them. Participants, numbering in the hundreds, gathered around the track road and assembled at the starting line, each step resonating with a blend of determination and joy. Beyond the act of running, this event embodied a profound spirit of giving back and supporting a noble cause within one's means—to provide welfare institutes with funds and assist in the growth and development of children and young adults.

There were two groups of participants: the “Pleasurers” and the “Competitors”. The “Pleasurers” group ran along a track of 6.6 km in total. The “Competitors” group exuded determination, eagerly anticipating the race and sprinting swiftly for a half-marathon (21 km in total). Participants did their best within their abilities, forming small groups and encouraging each other, and the majority successfully completed the race. Along the way, volunteers were dedicated, providing fruits and electrolyte drinks to replenish the participants' energy. As the participants engaged in the sport and experienced the joy it brought, they also realized the happiness of contributing to society, embodying the saying, "To give a rose and leave the fragrance in hand."

Participating in the Charity Run proved to be a transformative odyssey for many. This event inspired participants to think, achieving multiple goals with one action. People not only experienced the joy of sports but also dedicated themselves to those in need, while also strengthening their perseverance and willpower. As the participants raced towards the finish line and received their rewards, these experiences will serve as motivation for our growth.

A student from Kate, a class from HFI, expressed during the interview, "We have already experienced the joy that comes from devoting ourselves to society. It's like a little driving force in our lives, motivating us to keep moving forward and to give back even more to society. This event is very meaningful because it allows us to give back to society according to our own abilities, providing help and care to those in need. I believe that the Charity Run is not only promoting a healthy lifestyle but also showing us that we can make the world a better place through our actions, which is very meaningful.”
