HFI Sports Meeting at Knowledge City Campus
On the brisk morning of October 17, 2024, the eastern athletics field of HFI's Knowledge City Campus buzzed with excitement and anticipation. This momentous day marked the inaugural sports day for the International Section in the Knowledge City Campus, bringing together students and teachers to celebrate athleticism and camaraderie. The sports meeting can be divided into 3 stages: the Grand Opening Ceremony, the athletic competitions, and the Closing Ceremony.
The success of the grand opening ceremony can be credited to the assiduous work of the cadre of class leaders. Students and teachers worked side by side on the preparations. This year, the idea was to launch a gas-filled rocket in the playground to showcase the theme of the ceremony---"Bringing benefit to the world with technology." Shortly after, a band of talented HFIers performed a dance show in which players spun on their heads and did three backflips and received tumultuous applause.
After the opening ceremony was over and everyone got themselves warmed up, the sports games officially began, which will be introduced more precisely in the latter parts, the interviews, of this article.
After the races were finished, our English Editing Team's reporters interviewed Ann Yang from Class Maslow.
In this year's sports meeting, Ann demonstrated amazing willpower and responsibility, having to attend two different events: the 100-meter run and the triple frog jump. As a student athlete and a member of the Guangzhou Tennis Team, it seemed destined for her to win both games. However, Ann recalled encountering lots of strong competitors during the race, and in the end, she managed to win the gold medal for the women's triple frog jump and 5th place for the 100-meter run. What's more, Ann also took the job of standard-bearer for the closing ceremony.

The HFI sports meeting was a resounding success, marking a memorable day filled with athleticism and community spirit. Furthermore, it provided a chance for HFIers to reflect on their study and lives. As Kendon Zhong, a softball player who attended the sports meeting said: "You get 3 tries throwing the softball, but you only get 1 chance to live life to the fullest." The 2024 HFI Sports Meeting inspired students to be optimistic, self-motivated and to play an active role in their communities. It also boosted our confidence, enabling us to socialize with our teachers, and provided us with a valuable opportunity to develop our leadership skills.
