Zhuhai Research and Study Activity

Being filled with excitement and pursuit of knowledge, students from HFI arrived at the Shipai campus and went on the bus to the journey of Zhuhai research and study activity. The air was moist and fresh, and dynamic students were chatting about the upcoming trip. The journey includes two sections: an intense visit to the company of Yunzhou Tech, which has been inspecting unmanned aerial vessels for over 10 years, and boarding on the integrated oceanographic research internship ship of Sun Yat-sen University, or the R.V. Zhong Shan Da Xue. Through these research and study processes, students gain a general understanding of modern marine technologies and are inspired to learn more about marine science.

Firstly, students were led to view the Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd. The instructor introduced students to the emergency-powered lifeboat. She suggested that the lifeboat had already been put into use in several parks and coasts and had successfully saved people’s lives. Students then had the opportunity to control the lifeboat with a remote control on their own. After that, the instructor further explained the basic principles of the high-tech lifeboat. Many students were interested in it. They asked deeper questions about it and discussed it with each other. Later, students turned to learn about the history, representative products, technological accomplishments, as well as the long-term pursuit of the company. In this way, students not only acquired some basic knowledge about marine science and modern-day landscapes of the field but also got an overview of a flourishing company. What’s more, by learning about the company’s process of founding, progressing, and overcoming difficulties, students were inspired to become diligent and intrepid individuals.

After lunch, students were positioned at the R.V. Zhong Shan Da Xue, which was an integrated research ship armed with numerous advanced technologies. Students first stepped on the deck. The instructor informed them of the specific functions of several magnificent machines, and many students were amazed by them. Students then moved to the living and entertaining area of the boat to inspect closely the daily lives of the scientists and sailors on the boat. Moreover, the chief engineer of the detection sector presented an inspirational lecture to students. He demonstrated the main facts about the underwater robot “Sea Dragon” and shared experiences about it doing scientific investigation. He displayed a video of doing marine research, and students’ eyes were stuck to it. Through observing the foremost ship and experiencing some interesting features, students view leading technologies and are motivated to attain knowledge in relevant fields as well as make contributions to the development of their country.

All in all, this Zhuhai research and study activity promotes marine science technologies to HFI students and enables them to be informed about the overall landscape of current-day marine technology’s rapid development. More importantly, it encourages students to discover far-reaching spirits such as diligence, fearlessness, and open-mindedness. I believe this meaningful memory will be preserved and cherished by students.
