Summary of Position This position starts in middle August 2018. The contract is for two years initially, and it is renewable. Teaching hours will be 16 hours per week, working hours (including teaching and preparation) will be 40 hours per week. This successful candidate will work closely with our highly trained staffs in Language centre. He/she will teach EAP Foundation course and English lessons for our students. Overview of the School Huafu International, the international department of The Affiliated High School of South China Normal University, Guangzhou, was founded in 2004, and currently offers an AP program to grades 10-12 and an International Foundation Year program. Current enrolment at the school is a little over 400 students. As our reputation and student numbers increase, we are seeking to add more dynamic and experienced teachers that can meet the needs of high-achieving students to our teaching staff. Salary and benefits We offer a very competitive salary, which is based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Salary is paid in RMB. We also offer housing allowance, annual economy round-trip air fare, excess baggage allowance, paid holidays, health insurance, and a yearly professional development stipend. Highly qualified candidates will meet the following criteria. 1. Academic qualification—minimum bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred. 2. A recognized teaching qualification. 3. Relevant teaching experience (normally a minimum of two years)--This experience should relate to the delivery of a Western-style syllabus using Western conventions and methodologies. 4. An understanding of western higher education and the needs and requirements of international students. 5. The ability to contribute to integrated teaching across the curriculum. 6. Direct experience of further and higher education in an international context. 7. Experience of teaching non-native speakers of English (Desirable). 8. Specific experience of education in China (Desirable). 9. Experience of living and working in China (Desirable). 10. Experience of the development of academic programs (Desirable). 11. Experience of academic assessment and standards and of quality assurance procedures. 12. Experience of AP courses and examinations (Desirable).
